Abstract

Background— Epistaxis may be seen in patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the novel
severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The aim of this report is to provide strategies for
medical professionals performing trans-arterial embolization for patients with intractable epistaxis. and COVID-19.
Case Descriptions— We report upon four patients diagnosed with COVID-19 presenting with medically refrac

tory epistaxis as a complication of COVID-19, necessitating emergent trans-arterial embolization. Unique aspects of
pre-procedural intubation and outcomes of procedures are presented in the report.
Conclusion— Our report provides guidance for performing trans-arterial embolization in COVID-19 patients who
present with intractable epistaxis.
